Welcome to Hartuition!

I’m Michele Hartmangruber, Founder of Hartuition. I’m honoured that you have chosen to visit this site. It was created not only to provide you with an overview of Hartuition’s services but also to motivate you to implement positive, significant and sustainable changes in your lifestyle behaviours to achieve optimal health and wellness.

I would like to share some of my background with you, so you will understand why I’m so passionate about Hartuition, and why I want you to immerse yourself in its services.

Our Minds & Bodies

My interest in the human body and mind dates back to my childhood. I have always been fascinated with the complexity of the body and the amazing connection between the mind and body. When I was young and into my adulthood, both of my parents and three siblings, one by one, encountered life-threatening diseases (diabetes, cancer, and heart disease).

I developed a very keen interest in understanding the key factors, including lifestyle behaviours, that contribute to the development of chronic diseases and in identifying preventative health care measures an individual can practice to reduce the likelihood of chronic disease onset, or in the case of a diagnosis, slow down the progression or reverse the symptoms of disease and address the fundamental causes.

Hartuition Is Born

My concern for my family drove me to learn about the importance of proper nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management and emotional and social intelligence in caring for the body, mind, and emotions.

After years of pursuing these themes for myself, I recognized my destined career path: to help others design, implement, and successfully carry out a customized health and wellness plan to achieve optimal health and wellbeing.

My goal with each of my clients is to empower them with the understanding that there are key aspects of their health and wellness that are within their realm of control, and that they can live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

My First Client: Me!

My first client was myself. Over the years, I learned firsthand the positive and significant impact that eating smart, moving more, restoring often, and connecting more can have on my health and wellbeing. I incorporated lifestyle practices within all four of these categories to nourish and balance my body, mind, and life.

An Important Lesson

There were times, however, when my health and wellbeing were compromised. The stresses and strains of my personal, family and professional life caused me to falter from some of my healthy living habits. I recognized I needed to make a concerted effort to address some key areas of my life that were affecting me physically, mentally and emotionally. I had to take care of my health and wellbeing first before I could care for others. This was an important lesson for me because I was born to be a caregiver.

I’m grateful for all the health-related knowledge I have gained and the practices I have adopted for they are helping me address several health issues that have arisen as I entered the menopause phase of my life.

In spite of my healthy lifestyle habits, I was diagnosed two years ago with osteoporosis, osteoarthritis in multiple areas of my back, unfavourable cholesterol numbers, and wide blood pressure fluctuations. I vividly recall talking to myself, “Yikes! What was happening to my body?” My doctor’s response? “You’re in menopause, and you’re ageing. It’s a normal process.” Well, I found this remark difficult to accept.

Taking Charge

Yes, we all age over time, and yes, all women eventually go through menopause at a certain age, but we don’t have to simply accept the side effects and remain helpless or take medications to alleviate symptoms. There is a time and place for medications, but more natural and effective remedies exist which can not only alleviate symptoms but also get down to the fundamental causes of the conditions and slow down and perhaps even reverse their progression.

I knew it was time for me to take a deeper dive into understanding the multiple impacts ageing and menopause have on the body, mind and emotions. With this additional education in mind, I was able to implement further changes in my lifestyle habits to address the root causes of these conditions, and although I must take medication for my osteoporosis, I have been able to reverse the progression of all these conditions by addressing my additional needs for nourishment and balance in all four health and wellness categories: eat smart, move more, restore often, connect more.
